The duplex ultrasound is completely painless – it’s similar to the ultrasounds used during pregnancy. Our sonographer will apply gel to your leg and use a small device to create images of your veins. The entire process typically takes 15-30 minutes, and you’ll get your results right away so we can discuss next steps immediately.
Not necessarily. The duration of blood thinner treatment varies depending on what caused your Deep Vein Thrombosis and your individual risk factors. Some patients may need them for 3-6 months, while others with ongoing risk factors might need longer-term treatment. We’ll work with you to determine the safest approach based on your specific situation and monitor you closely throughout treatment.
Most patients can continue light activities and work, but we’ll give you specific guidelines based on your treatment plan. Walking is actually encouraged as it helps improve circulation.
